This course is for anyone who wants to read and understand biblical Hebrew — students, congregants, and anyone whose faith draws them to scripture in its original language. You need nothing more than an internet connection. Classes are delivered over WhatsApp and Google Meet, in English and Kiswahili, and are built specifically for learners across East Africa.
The Alef Champ method
Alef Champ builds reading fluency letter by letter and sound by sound, the same approach used to teach Hebrew reading to children — adapted here for adult learners with personal teacher attention at every stage. You progress through four reader levels, each with its own promotion test, until you are reading full passages aloud.

Is this a spoken Hebrew or Ulpan course?
No. This course teaches you to read biblical Hebrew and understand translation basics. It is not modern conversational Hebrew and not an Ulpan.
How long does it take to learn to read Hebrew?
The course is structured as 2 introductory classes plus 16 regular classes. Most diligent students are reading Hebrew by class 16.
How much do lessons cost?
Hebrew Readers East Africa fees are intended to be affordable. The average cost of a class is about 400 kes.
